Matt and Nicki, House for an Art Lover, October 2011

Music was the theme with some stunning architecture providing the backdrop on Matt & Nicki's big day last October. Yeah so it rained - in fact rain doesn't really cover it, it was more like walking through a low-lying cloud - but who cares when the venue is the rightly famed House for an Art Lover. Built as a monument to love, this venue has so much to admire indoors that you could happily spend the day cosy & warm inside without feeling the need to venture into the surrounding gardens. And not only does the place look gorgeous unadorned, Matt & Nicki put plenty of time and love into personalising it for their day. The music theme worked so well, especially when the main reception hall features a Charles Rennie Mackintosh piano. Favourite albums were used for table names, a thank you sign was made from old LPs and a couple of weeks beforehand we designed a CD sleeve for their favours. Keen-eyed readers might recognise the homage to The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. Other notables - the fabulous Jenny Packham dress, 2 outfits for the groom and their mates performing a set for the dancing.
